Evergreen Brick Works
The Evergreen Brick Works, located in the Don River Valley of Toronto, was founded in 1889 and was home to one of the country’s largest brick manufacturers for nearly a century. Now, Evergreen has transformed the site into a global showcase for green design that hosts public markets, conferences, private events, and outdoor learning sessions. During renovations, CUPOLEX® was used to form new concrete floors in the existing buildings. CUPOLEX® reduced the amount of heavy granular material required and provided a light-weight flooring alternative. In the historic kiln building, CUPOLEX® provided the void space required for wet floodproofing, allowing stormwater to flow in and out of the building foundation instead of attempting to prevent the building from flooding.
